17 traffic offenders do community service in Lagos.

About 17 convicted traffic offenders, comprising 15 men and two women were yesterday brought to the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja for community service. .
.
They were convicted by the Special Offences Court, sitting at Oshodi. They were engaged in clearing bushes and wastes at the secretariat
.
.
Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA) spokesperson, Mahmud Hassan, said offences ranged from non-use of seat belts to dropping of passengers at unauthorised places, and driving on the BRT corridors, among others. .
.
The convicts, he said, would still be sent to the streets to serve their sentences at the “discretion of the officer that is in charge of that department.” .
.
The lesson to potential traffic offenders, he said, was that they too would face similar action when caught.
